PURPOSE:To obtain an anticonvulsant having excellent alleviating effects on convulsant, capable of showing sufficient effects even by oral administration, containing a histidylprolinamide derivative as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:An anticonvulsant containing a histidylprolinamide derivative shown by formula (R is lower alkyl) as an active ingredient. 6-Methyl-5-oxo-3- thiomorpholinylcarbonylhistidylprolinamide, etc., may be cited as the concrete example of the compound shown by the formula. When used, the active ingredient is directly used as it is or 0.0001-1.2% of the compound shown by the formula is added to a nontoxic or inert carrier in the case of injection or 0.001-2% is added in the case of tablet and used. An ordinary effective dose is 0.01-50mg, preferably 0.1-10mg daily per adult.
