PURPOSE:To obtain a stable cell performance for a long time by adding beforehand a nickel compound which is molten as nickel ions in the molten condition to a mixture alkaline metal carbonate electrolyte including lithium carbonate and calcium carbonate. CONSTITUTION:By adding a nickel compound to a mixture alkaline metal carbonate electrolyte beforehand, it is molten as nickel ions in the electrolyte when it is molten. As a result, nickel ions are solved in a saturated condition in the molten electrolyte when the cell is operated, and the NiO being the cathode material is prevented from melting in the electrolyte, the change of porousness, the pore diameter, and the like of the cathod are prevented, and the cell performance can be stabilized for a long period of time. |
