PURPOSE:To join a metal and ceramic at the temp. lower than the conventional one by inserting a nickel contained silver solder between a metal and an active metal in the joining method of a metal and ceramic joining the active metal by inserting it between a metal and ceramic. CONSTITUTION:A titanium(Ti) foil 2 is placed on a ceramics(Al2O3)1 and a silver solder(contg. Ag, Zn, Cd, Cu and Ni) is superposed thereon. A copper plate 4 is placed thereon further and a spherical graphite cast iron 8 as a jointing metal is placed thereon via a silver solder 7. It is taken off after holding it at specified temp. inside a non-oxidizing furnace (electric furnace under argon gas atm.) The eutectic temp. of a nickel contained silver solder and active metal (titanium foil) is lower than the conventional joining temp. By using the nickel contained silver solder the joining of a metal and ceramic is done at lower temp. and higher joining strength is obtd. as well.
