PURPOSE:To obtain a narrow origin signal without shortening the recording length of the origin signal, by making a distance between two current passages longer than a distance between two detecting elements and by composing the outputs of comparator circuits which make the outputs of the detecting elements into pulses. CONSTITUTION:A distance between the current passages of one set of detecting elements Ra and Rb and a distance between the current passages of the other set of detecting elements Rc and Rd are made longer than a distance between the two sets of detecting elements. The former set of detecting elements Ra and Rb is connected in series to the latter set of detecting elements Rc and Rd, while they are connected in parallel to a power source Vc, and detection signals Va and Vb are outputted from the respective nodes of these sets of detecting elements. The detection signals Va and Vb are compared with reference voltages Vrfa and Vrfb by comparator circuits 11 and 12 and made into pulses respectively, and they are outputted as signals CPa and CPb. The output signals CPa and CPb are composed by a composing means 13 and outputted therefrom as a position detection signal.
