PURPOSE:To provide the structure of a cell which is small in size and is capable of improving the reliability of sealing and a production process for said cell by forming the cell in such a manner that a sealing material for sealing a liquid crystal does not project from the plane formed of the end faces of front faces of substrates. CONSTITUTION:The sealing port side ends of two sheets of the substrates 12, 13 consisting of plastic films are previously extended and the sealing material (package) 14 is extended to this extension part to form a injecting route and sealing port for the liquid crystal and the sealing material 15. After the liquid crystal is sealed into the cell from the sealing port, the uncured sealing material 15 is poured into the cell from the sealing port. The sealing material 15 advances by filling the injecting route for the liquid crystal and is filled to the position where the sealing function of the cell is obtd. The sealing material 15 is thereafter cured or half-cured and the extension part of two sheets of the substrates 12, 13 is cut off in the position show by a cutting line B-B' in the state of in which the sealing material loses its flowability, by which the cell is formed to the final shape.
