PURPOSE:To clean the surface of a joining part by joining a couple of materials to be welded while supplying shielding gas to the inside periphery of the joining surface of the materials to be welded at the time of performing the friction joining of the couple of materials to be welded one of which at least is hollow and cylindrical while rotating one material which is hollow and cylindrical. CONSTITUTION:At the time of performing the friction joining of the couple of materials 1 and 2 to be welded which are hollow and cylindrical while pressing these materials and rotating one material, the friction joining is performed while supplying inert gas to a weld zone 9 via a shielding gas pipe. By equipment with this constitution, since the slag can be suppressed from being produced on the surface of the joining part, the stable quality can be maintained.
