PURPOSE:To prevent the movement of fluid between a reactor and pressurizing means at the time of stopping an instrument by providing a selecting means for supplying cooling water to the reactor according to the detection signal of a temp. sensor provide to the reactor. CONSTITUTION:A thermocouple 22 for detecting the temp. in a piping 15 of the reactor 20 which forms carbon dioxide by bringing a reactive liquid and the org. carbon in a sample into reaction is attached to the wall of the above- mentioned piping. A three-way solenoid valve 10 is selected by a controller 13 in accordance with the detection signal outputted from this thermocouple 22. The driving of a pressurizing pump 14, a sample feed pump 1 and a reactive liquid feed pump 7a is stopped and the power supply to a power source 21a of a drum heater 21 is turned off in the event of abnormality such as a sharp drop in the temp. in the reactor 20.
