The invention relates to a motorised propulsion unit with a rotary engine, part of the energy of which is converted into the form of direct reaction in the atmosphere. It consists of a rotary engine 1, a tractive propellor 2, of items of equipment 3, a ring 4 mounted concentrically around the propellor, the engine and the items of equipment and an orientable fixture 5. A certain quantity of air is sucked in by the propellor at the region of the air inlet 6 of the ring. This quantity of air is then accelerated by a Venturi effect inside the ring forming an ejection nozzle 7 thus creating a thrust which is added to the traction of the propellor. This motorised propulsion unit according to the invention is particularly intended to equip land and air vehicles. <IMAGE>
