PURPOSE:To enable a pause without using an additional circuit by performing a track jump based on a prescribed recording signal of a fixed period recorded in a disk, forbidding the detection of the prescribed recording signal for a fixed time, detecting the prescribed recording signal after resuming, the detection, and sensing one revolution of the disk. CONSTITUTION:A periodical signal detection forbidding time calculating means 12 is for calculating a prescribed time for forbidding the detection of the periodical signal after the track jump. Then, when a pausing instruction signal is inputted to a pausing signal input terminal 7, the pause is commenced in synchronization with the periodical signal detected by a periodical signal detecting means 11, and also a pickup 1 is made to perform the track jump over one track, and then the detection of the periodical signal is forbidden for the prescribed time from that the disk is rotated by one revolution after commencing the pause to that the same periodical signal as the one used in synchronization with the previous track jump is detectable. By this method, the resumption of a reproducing is possible to continue the previous reproducing before pausing without an additional particular circuit.
