PURPOSE:To determine the shape not directly indicated by taking the relation of correspondence between drawings so as to calculate the length of a shape line whose dimension is not indicated from the known dimension. CONSTITUTION:A processing section shown in dotted lines receives a data in shape lines/auxiliary lines corresponding to a character string obtained by the processing of a corresponding section 4 between a character and a shape line/auxiliary line, a data grouped in the unit of net having a relation of connection of shape lines from an identification section 5 and a recognition section 6 and a data of front view of each group. An apex extraction section 7 extracts the location of apex, a dimension setting section 8 generates a table of 2-dimensional matrix and sets the dimension between corresponding apexes from the dimension obtained by the correspondence section 4 and the corresponding shape/auxiliary lines. An arithmetic section 9 generates a dimension setting table by referencing the relation of correspondence of a drawing stored in an intelligent base 11, decides undefined size by a command from a correspondence processing section 12 to confirm the shape and gives an output.
