PURPOSE:To easily attain the increase in the type of transmittable maintenance signals by using a frame synchronizing pattern to be able to identify a frame number in a multiframe for transmitting plural types of maintenance signals. CONSTITUTION:On a transmitting side, a frame pattern preparing part 1 prepares a frame synchronizing pattern to be able to identify a frame number in a multiframe and multiplexes plural types of maintenance signals by a maintenance signal generating part 2 in accordance with identification information to be able to identify this number. The frame synchronizing pattern, the multiplexed maintenance signal, and data are multiplexed and sent in accordance with a transmitting timing number from a transmitting timing generating part 7 by a multiplexing part 3. On the other hand, on a receiving side, a frame synchronizing part 4 obtains the frame synchronization and identify the frame number in the multiframe, a separating part 5 separates the maintenance signal from the data in accordance with a receiving timing signal from a receiving timing generating part 8, and a maintenance signal receiving part 6 separates and receives plural maintenance signals in accordance with identification information Mi.
