PURPOSE:To obtain reflecting glass having high heat ray reflecting performance and high visible light reflectance, by laminating a chromium nitride layer having high nitriding degree to a metallic chromium layer or a chromium nitride layer having low nitriding degree to form a heat ray reflecting thin film. CONSTITUTION:A heat ray reflecting thin film 2 in heat ray reflecting glass of half mirror consists of at least two or more layers of a first layer 2a having high heat ray reflecting performance and a second layer 2b having high mechanical strength characteristics. The first layer 2a at the transparent glass substrate side consists of metallic chromium or a chromium nitride having low nitriding degree. The second layer 2b on the top of the first layer 2a consists of a chromium nitride having high nitriding degree to provide high mechanical strength characteristics. A chromium nitride having <=35% nitriding degree shown by atomic ratio is preferable as the chromium nitride having low nitriding degree in the first layer 2a. A chromium nitride having about 35-65% nitriding degree shown by atomic ratio is preferable as the chromium nitride having high nitriding degree in the second layer 2b.
