The invention concerns a reinforcing grid, in particular for sails, that has, besides threads running lengthwise, threads that cross, i.e. deviate from the lengthwise direction. Plastic sails are to be reinforced with such a reinforcing grid so that, on the one hand, the cut-out pieces meet the essential strength requirements in all directions, and on the other, a small number of cuts and/or webs and expensive seams is sufficient. Also, waste, the weight, and harmful elongation are to be reduced and safety increased. This is achieved by having the crossing threads (3, 4) run approximately in the same direction as the lengthwise threads (2, 6), and enclose between one another acute angles ( alpha ) ranging from 6@ to 30@. <IMAGE>
