ELECTRICAL DISCHARGE MACHINING APPARATUS FOR FORMING MINUTE HOLES IN A WORKPIECE

An electrical discharge machining apparatus for forming minute holes in a workpiece has a machining electrode composed of an electrode core wire, a support tube having a bore in which the electrode core wire is slidably supported and an outer peripheral surface held in highly concentric relation to the bore, and a rotatable support body for transmitting rotative power to the support tube fitted therein, the machining electrode being rotatable about its own axis which is substantially aligned with the central axis of the electrode core wire. The machining electrode is rotatably supported in V-shaped grooves in a support and movable toward and away from the workpiece. The workpiece is movable between a position below the machining electrode and a position below a positioning means held in juxtaposed relation to the machining electrode. A position to be machined on the workpiece can determined by the positioning means.
