PURPOSE:To switch at a high speed and to make suitable for single mode fiber transmission line by providing with an optical/electric conversion part, an electric/optical conversion part, and a control part to selectively drive a specific one or plural electric/optical conversion parts according to a prescribed control signal. CONSTITUTION:The optical/electric conversion part 100 comprises an O/E conversion means 102 and a branch means 108. The electric/optical conversion parts 103, 104 function to convert an electrical signal to an optical signal only when a bias current is supplied. The control part 107 outputs, based on a control signal inputted from the external, a bias current as a control signal to specify either or the conversion systems 103, 104 to drive selectively. In such a way, since no mechanical switching means is used, the switching of the transmission line can be realized speedily and surely. Also, the switch can be used effectively for single mode fiber transmission line of narrow connection tolerance. |
