<p>PURPOSE:To remove effectively sulfur containing malodor components by bringing such components into contact with a solution of iron salt mainly composed of ferric iron and whose pH is below 4, separating a precipitated product and recovering ferrous iron from the separated liquid. CONSTITUTION:An iron salt solution, whose main constituent is such a ferric iron salt as ferric polysulfate, ferric sulfate, ferric chloride or ferric nitrate etc., and whose pH is below 4, is prepared. This iron salt solution is brought into contact with a sulfur containing malodor component and a precipitated product mainly composed of sulfur is separated from that iron salt solution. Then ferrous iron in the separated liquid is oxidized to ferric state and repeatedly utilized. The said malodor component means hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan or methyl sulfide etc. By adopting this method, the iron salt solution for absorbing the malodor component can be repeatedly utilized, and furthermore an occurrence of secondary pollution can be avoided.</p> |
