PURPOSE:To enable a circuit of a load or the like to be prevented from burning and a smoke phenomena, by controlling a supply current by comparing it with a reference value preliminarily set according to an action mode and a printing density. CONSTITUTION:An action mode is classified into, for instance, a thrust mode, a SP action mode, a 12 pin printing mode, a 8 pin printing mode, a stand-by state mode, etc., and each load level which is taken as a reference according to such each action mode is preliminarily established to be stored. A microprocessor 5 always discriminates a present action mode, and compares a reference load level thereto with an action load current at that time. When it exceeds the reference load level, an alarm signal 6 is sent to a protection circuit of a power source part 1. The protection circuit receives it, controls a current by reducing a supply voltage or interrupting the voltage, and performs protection of a load.
