PURPOSE:To improve the processing capacity of a data communication processor by providing a control external memory in an access enable way and independently of a normal memory and using an exclusive means which works in response to an instruction given from a program to process the task control, etc. CONSTITUTION:An access enable control external memory 4 is provided independently of a normal memory 2 storing the programs and the reference data. At the same time, a task is registered into the memory 4 together with the timer value set at the memory 4 in response to the task register and timer monitor instructions respectively received from a program which is actuated by a processor function part 10. Furthermore, a control memory control part 11 sends the information on the registered task to the part 10 in case the task under execution at the part 10 is through. In such a constitution, the load is reduced for the programs needed for control of tasks and monitor of a timer. Thus the processing capacity is improved for a data communication processor.
