PURPOSE:To obtain a mist trap having improved collection efficiencies of sodium mists, by densely packing with metal meshes which have wire diameter in the upstream of a gas passage smaller than that in the downstream thereof and providing a heater outside of trap casing to heat metal meshes. CONSTITUTION:A casing 1 of a mist trap has an inlet nozzle 3 through which cover gases containing metal mists from a fast breeder reactor etc., flow into an an outlet nozzle 4. In the casing 1, metal meshes 2a filling the casing densely in the upstream have a smaller wire diameter and an opening of a mesh smaller than that filling it in the down stream. Metal meshes 2a, 2b filled in the lower portion and upper portion of a gas passage respectively are arranged to be maintained at a temperature higher than the melting point of the liquid metal in the mists. Consequently, sodium mists are captured mainly by the meshes near the gas inlet with the result that functions to capture sodium mists are improved by the sodium liquid layer held in the meshes.
