PURPOSE:To obtain an oxide superconductive body of a large length by supplying metallic powder which is to become a covering material from a hopper to a space between a rotary wheel and a shoe block of an extrusion machine to make a porous metallic pipe through a die while supplying from other hopper oxide powder which is to become the superconductive material. CONSTITUTION:Using a rotary wheel type extrusion machine, powder 4 of pure copper, etc., held in a hopper 3 is supplied between a rotary wheel 1 and a shoe block 2 to extrude a pure copper pipe by means of the rotary force of the wheel 1 through a die 6. On the other hand, powder of Y2O3, BaCO3, and CuO mixed to become Y1Ba2Cu3O7-y is held in another hopper 8 and is preliminary sintered at 800 deg.C. Oxide powder 9 obtained by crushing the sintered powder undergoes complex extrusion through a die 6 to be formed into a required complex wire. After cooling, the wire is cold drawn to a required diameter, sintered at 900 deg.C for 2 hours to produce superconductive wire. In this way, the superconductive wire is made to show superconductivity at 80K and to have uniform characteristic over the entire length.
