To provide an apparatus for producing stranded rings, comprising a securing means for the core ring, a transporting device by means of which the core ring is turned about its central axis and which acts frictionally on the core ring and a wire reel, running around the core of the core ring as the central axis, in which apparatus a high accuracy of, for example, one hundredth of a millimetre per length of lay can be maintained, it is proposed that there is arranged a first scanning device (10), by means of which the circumferential speed of the core ring (4) can be sensed, there is arranged a second scanning device (11), by means of which the circumferential speed of the wire reel (5) about the core of the core ring (4) can be sensed, and there are arranged a pickup (12, 13), which picks up both measured values which are sensed, and also a control unit, which converts the measured values into control signals and adapts the circumferential speed of the wire reel (5) to the circumferential speed of the core ring (4) in such a way that the predetermined length of lay of each and every lay of the wire layer is maintained. <IMAGE>
