PURPOSE:To provide the title vehicle exhibiting an appropriate hydrolysis rate and free from aging, which comprises an oligomer from a particular unsatd. triorganosilyl monomer or a mixture of this monomer with an ethylenically unsatd. compd. CONSTITUTION:An unsatd. triorganosilyl monomer (A) (e.g., dimethylbutylsilyl acrylate) of the formula (wherein R<1> is H, methyl; and R<2>, R<3>, R<4> are each a monovalent hydrocarbon residue, with the proviso that at least one of them is a 4C or higher monovalent hydrocarbon residue) or a monomer mixture (B) comprising at least 10mol.% monomer of the formula and an ethylenically unsatd. compd. contg. no silicon atom in the molecule (e.g., styrene) is polymerized, thereby producing an oligomer having a number-average MW of 1,000-8,000. This oligomer is used as a gradually soluble vehicle for a coating material.
