PURPOSE:To apply a coating fluid on a drum outer peripheral surface in uniform thickness by immersing a drum into the coating fluid in a manner that the volume of a lower space in the drum supported almost vertically is in a given relationship with the inner diameter of the drum. CONSTITUTION:A drum 40 is immersed into a volatile coating fluid 50 by retaining the drum 40 almost vertically in the state that a space is formed in a lower section of the drum 40, retaining said space airtightly except an opening at a lower end and lifting and lowering, and the immersed drum 40 is lifted out of said coating fluid and then the coating fluid is applied on the outer peripheral surface. At that time, the drum is immersed into the coating fluid in a manner that the volume V of the lower space in the drum 40 is V<20(1/2phi)<2>pi, where an inner diameter of the drum 40 is phi. As a result, air babbles do not generate when the drum is immersed into the coating fluid, and the coating fluid, therefore, can be applied to the drum outer peripheral surface in uniform thickness. |
