PURPOSE:To properly compensate only the real dropout of a video signal by realizing the adjustment of a threshold level for detecting the dropout. CONSTITUTION:The titled device is provided with a setting means which variably sets the threshold level for detecting the dropout of a detection means 62 and gives it to the detection means 62, an output terminal which is connected with a compensation means 60 and outputs the video isngla obtained from the compensating means 60 and an image display means 14 which is connected with the compensating means 60 and visibly displays a still picture shown by the video signal outputted from the compensating means 60. Thus the outputted image of which real existing dropout is properly compesated can be obtained.
