The invention relates to an open-sided press of the kind which includes a press-frame and top and bottom, essentially horizontal press-beams (1; 2) carried by a main frame-part. The top press-beam (1) is pivotally suspended on the main frame-part at a location between the ends of the beam and the rear ends of the top and bottom beams (1; 2) are mutually connected by means of a yoke (8) which functions to take-up compression forces. This arrangement avoids weld joints which are subjected to high stress concentrations, and consequently allows the press-frame to be dimensioned for very large press forces. |
