PURPOSE:To improve the self priming function of a self priming pump by controlling the revolution speed of an electric motor for driving a self priming pump to the revolution speed lower than a rated revolution speed when the self priming pump is started. CONSTITUTION:When an operation instruction signal 1 is input into a revolution speed control circuit 7 in a control circuit 3 from an input terminal 11, the revolution speed instruction signal 8 set in a self priming revolution speed setting part 10 is outputted into a motor driving circuit 6 form the revolution speed control circuit 7. Therefore, a self priming pump 1 starts the self priming operation with the self priming revolution speed lower than a rated revolution speed. After the lapse of the time set by a self priming completion time setting part 15, a self priming completion detecting circuit 13 outputs a self priming completion signal 14. Then, the revolution speed control circuit 7 switches the revolution speed instruction signal 8 to the value set by the rated revolution speed setting part 9 from the value set by the setting part 10, and the self priming pump 1 starts the pumping-up operation with the rated revolution speed.
