PURPOSE:To enable favorable ink jet recording even on ordinary papers or other similar recording materials, by using a colored ink for forming an image and a colorless ink in a predetermined physical property relationship, thereby assisting or accelerating the penetration of the colored ink into a recording material by the colorless ink, and controlling the physical properties of the colored ink according mainly to adaptability for a recorder. CONSTITUTION:A means for forming ejected droplets of a colored liquid containing a recording agent and a means for forming ejected droplets of a colorless liquid not containing any recording agent are independently provided. Recording is conducted by superposingly applying the colorless droplets on the colored droplets on a recording material according to recording data. In recording, the colored liquid and the colorless liquid are used in such a combination as to provide a physical property relationship necessary for accelerating the penetration of the colored droplets into the recording material. The relationship can be obtained by ensuring at least one of relationships, for example, (a) the surface tension of the colorless ink is lower than that of the colored ink, (b) the viscosity of the colorless ink is lower than that of the colored ink, or (c) the vapor pressure of the colorless ink is higher than that of the colored ink. |
