PURPOSE:To produce L-tryptophans, by reacting fumaric acid, ammonium ion and an indole compound in the presence of fumarase, pyruvic acid-malic acid carboxylase, tryptophanase and NADH oxidase. CONSTITUTION:The L-tryptophans of formula II are produced by reacting fumaric acid, ammonium ion and an indole compound of formula I (R is hydrogen atom or hydroxyl group) in the presence of fumarase, pyruvic acid-malic acid carboxylase, triptophanase and NADH oxidase. The sources of the enzymes may be cells of microorganisms containing these enzymes or their treated products. L-tryptophan can be produced by the use of indole as a starting compound and L-5-oxytryptophan is obtained from 5-oxyindole. |
