PURPOSE:To mass-produce a sintered Mg alloy having stable quality, by subjecting a powder mixture of Mg and Zn in which Zn content is specified to compacting and sintering. CONSTITUTION:Powdered Mg is mixed with powdered Zn so as to be formed into a powder mixture in which Zn content is regulated to 1-10%. this powder mixture is compacted and then sintered in an N2 atmosphere, etc. By the above powder metallurgical method, the mg sintered alloy having stable quality can be mass-produced inexpensively. When Zn content is <1% or >=10%, tensile strength is reduced. When the sintering conditions are regulated to about 560-640 deg.C and about 0.5-3hr, superior sintered compacts can be obtained.
