PURPOSE:To prevent a moment of rotation about a support part of a printing head from being generated due to a reaction force of printing and prevent the head from being vibrated, by providing the support part of the head on the line of action of the reaction force of printing, and fixing the head to a carrier. CONSTITUTION:Printing of dots on a paper 7 on a platen 3 through an ink ribbon 5 is conducted while a carrier 9 with a printing head 1 mounted thereon is moved along the platen 3. In a wire dot printer with such a construction, a printing head support part 11 is provided on the line of action of a reaction force of printing, and the head 1 is thereby fixed to the carrier 9. With this construction, a moment of rotation about the support part is not generated due to the reaction force of printing, and complicated vibration of the head can be obviated, thereby contriving to reduce noise.
