PURPOSE:To project plural different kinds of video information superimposingly by using a liquid crystal light bubble so as to produce a 1st video information to a projection optical system and realizing a video image of an OHP sheet to the projection optical system in one and same optical system. CONSTITUTION:A p-polarized component among lights from a xenon lamp 4 passes through a polarized beam splitter PBS 6 and returns to the PBS 6 as picture information of the OHP sheet by the action between the OHP optical system and the reflection plate. In this case, a polarized direction rotary mechanism 93 is transmitted reciprocatingly and the light is incident to the PBS 6 as an s-polarized light. The s-polarized component is reflected by the PBS 6 and a picture is formed on a display screen 8 by the action of the projection optical system 7. In applying projection display of the OHP sheet, the LCLV 3 is brought into the entirely dark state so as to prevent undesired light from being reached onto the screen 8. Moreover, the video signal 21 is given to a CRT 2 to keep the polarized direction rotary mechanism 93 in dark state when the video picture is projected.
