PURPOSE:To shorten the longitudinal size of an entire transmission, and reduce the number of rows of gears in this entire transmission, by setting an auxiliary shaft of a main transmission and an auxiliary shaft of an auxiliary transmission, in parallel with an output shaft, and rotating these auxiliary shafts reversely with each other. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary shaft 3 adapted to constitute a main transmission with an output shaft 2, and an auxiliary shaft 4 of an auxiliary transmission, are set in parallel with the output shaft 2. Rotating directions of the auxiliary shafts 3, 4 are reversed each other, the forward first speed is set by driving directly a gear 2a on the output shaft 2 through a gear 3A on the auxiliary shaft 3, and the backward operation is performed by driving directly the gear 2a through a gear 4c on the auxiliary shaft 4. In this way, the transmission can be compacted through shortening the longitudinal size of the entire transmission, and as the row of gears for the first speed can be also used as that for the backward operation, the number of rows of gears in this entire transmission can be reduced if the number of transmission stages is increased.
