摘要 PURPOSE:To enhance the high resolving power and high image quality of a multicolor image by using a carrier layer having a prescribed relation between the intensity of magnetization and an average diameter of grain, which provides a covering layer made of insulating substance on its surface, for two-component developer and executing non contact developing. CONSTITUTION:The carrier provided the covering layer made of insulating substance such as a resin and a ceramics, etc., which has the relation such as 30<=M<=-0.8R+150 (provided that 10<=R<=150) between the average diameter of grain R(mum) and the intensity of magnetization M(emu/cm<3>) is selected for two-component developer. If the diameter of grain of the carrier becomes <10mum or the intensity of magnetization of the carrier becomes <30emu/cm<3>, it is hard to obtain uniform developer layer and it is easy to cause the scatter, etc., of the carrier. When the diameter of grain becomes >150mum or the intensity of magnetization becomes >-0.8R+150emu/cm<3>, the grains become rough and the image quality is deteriorated. Then, by making the diameter of grain and the intensity of magnetization of the carrier within this range, the multicolor image having the high resolving power and high image quality can be formed.
