PURPOSE:To increase the reliability of engagement and to facilitate operation by providing an engaging portion on a piston rod, engaging a stopper mounted on the outside portion of a cylinder with the engaging portion, and moving the stopper by releasing means. CONSTITUTION:A piston 21 is inserted in the interior of a cylinder 20 in such a manner as to freely move vertically. A fixing member 25 having an engaging portion 24 is fixed to a piston rod 22 mounted on the piston 21. A stopper 26 is fixed to the lower end of the cylinder 20 by a pivot 29, and the stopper is engaged and disengaged with and from the engaging portion 24 by an electromagnetic solenoid 31. When the electromagnetic solenoid 31 is operated according to a signal, the stopper 26 is retreated to be disengaged, so that the piston rod 22 is lowered to close a valve. When the piston rod 22 is lifted, the stopper 26 is retreated by a pressing portion 23 of the fixing member 25, and subsequently, the engaging portion 24 is engaged with the stopper 26.
