PURPOSE:To eliminate a trouble for a caller to execute a recall operation to an occupied terminal by storing a calling terminal unit to request a callback setting for a data exchange receives an incoming call during a communication, and executing a call-back connection upon the completion of a communication by a called terminal unit. CONSTITUTION:A data exchange to accommodate and connect data terminal equipment (DTE) 10 investigates the vacancy/occupancy condition of a called DTE with a vacancy/occupancy condition area 41 in a memory device 40, when a connection control device 50 receives a calling request from one of the DTEs 10 and the calling request from a connecting destination DTE. When a called DTE is occupied, it transmits the occupancy information to the calling DTE. When the calling DTE transmits a call-back setting request, the call-back setting means 51 of the device 50 receives it and stores the calling DTE code in the called DTE corresponding area of the call-back destination DTE area 42 in the device 40. When an occupied DTE completes a communication, the device 50 investigates the area 42 and executes the connection operation of the stored DTE.
