PURPOSE:To obtain a metal strip having excellent surface characteristic with only a little effect of non-metallic inclusion by arranging pouring basin part, of which side part is limited with a side weir, on surface of one pair of rotated cooling drums and giving surface flows as parallel facing to shaft direction of the cooling drums. CONSTITUTION:A slit nozzle 6 having wide width set at bottom part of a tundish 5 is used also as a partition plate dividing the upper layer part of the pouring basin part 3 into two. Electromagnetic induction mechanisms 7a, 7b are arranged at both sides of the slit nozzle 6 and moving magnetic fields, which are parallel to the shaft direction of the cooling drums 1a, 1b and have mutually to reversed direction, are generated by multi-phase AC and the surface flows 8a, 8b having mutually to reversed direction, are generated. By this method, scum, oxide film, etc., becomes foreign material agglomerates 9a, 9b at the time of circulating flow of molten metal and collects in corner part of the pouring basin part 3. These foreign material agglomerates 9a, 9b are removed by scraper, etc. By this method, the product having excellent surface characteristic without any internal defect is obtd.
