PURPOSE:To reduce production cost by inserting and fixing an optical fiber to a fiber guide, which is installed to a fiber holder under the state of penetration and an inner end of which is faced oppositely to a transparent window for a cap. CONSTITUTION:The ceiling of a cap 3 is hollowed out circularly while a transparent glass plate 11 is mounted so as to clog the hollowing-out section, and a transparent window 2 through which laser beams 12 emitted from a laser diode chip 9 can be transmitted is constituted. The width of a flange 10 for the cap 3 is made wider than conventional products, and the edge of the flange 10 is extended up to the edge of a stem 1. A cylindrical fiber guide 13 is fastened at the center of the ceiling section 19 under the state of penetration and in an airtight manner, and an optical fiber such as one 6 consisting of a single mode fiber is inserted and fixed to the fiber guide 13. A joining section 16 in a fiber holder 7 is fastened to the flange 10 for the cap 3 through laser welding. Accordingly, each joining work is facilitated, thus improving productivity. |
