PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of the welding dislocation and to improve the tracing accuracy by mounting a cutting device and butt welding equipment on the same carriage and making these travel on a guide member and making the welding equipment trace correctly a butt line of both materials to be welded. CONSTITUTION:Preceding and succeeding strips 6a and 6b are clamped by outlet and inlet side clamping devices 5 and 8, respectively. Afterward, a rotary shearing device 27 set up on the carriage 29 travels in the cross direction to a line by a guide rail and cuts the edges of the preceding and succeeding stripes 6a and 6b, respectively. When this cutting operation is finished, the carriage 29 stands by. Next, the inlet side clamping device 8 advances and the tip of the succeeding strip 6b is abutted on the rear end of the preceding strip 6a. In this state, a back-bar device is raised to support a back part and butt welding is performed by a laser beam projected from the laser butt welding equipment. |
