PURPOSE:To partially plate the surface of a band steel in stripes by fixing a split sleeve for forming plural grooves in the circumferential direction to a rotary barrel to frictionally move a band steel, injecting a plating soln. from the barrel as an anode to the band steel as a cathode, and applying an electric current. CONSTITUTION:The plural split sleeves 3a-3d are provided on the periphery of the conductive metallic barrel 1 having a plating soln. injection slit 2 on its periphery through a member 6 on both ends and spacers 6 to form plural grooves 4a-4c between the split sleeves 3a-3d. The band steel 7 is brought into contact with the split sleeves 3a-3d, the barrel 1 is rotated, and a plating soln. is supplied from a supply port 8 of the barrel 1. The plating soln. is introduced into the plural grooves 4a-4c formed by the split sleeves from the slit 2, the band steel 7 is brought into contact with the plating soln. in the grooves 4a-4c, an electric current is applied with the barrel 1 as the anode and the band steel as the cathode, and hence a partial plating is continuously formed in stripes in the longitudinal direction of the band steel 7.
