PURPOSE:To prevent rainwater from entering an arrester by bending and extending both edges of an insulating tube formed of a thermal contractile material so as to substantially enclose an electrode and an earth electrode located at both openings of the tube then by press-fitting the edges with sealing metal fittings. CONSTITUTION:Both edges 5 of an insulating tube 1 are bent and flattened at the upper side of an electrode 3 and the lower side of an earth electrode 4 respectively so that the electro-mechanical electrode 3, the earth electrode 4 and a lightning arresting element 2 heat and contract the insulating tube 1 and they are held by both edges 5 of the tube 1. The outer surface of tube section 8 of sealing metal fitting 10 corresponding to a groove 6 of electrode 3 and 4 is plasticity-deformed by external force to from a recess 11 and the outer surface of the tube section 8 is caulked. Accordingly, bearing produces within the recess 11 due to the elasticity of the insulating tube 1 allowing to provide sealing function to the inside of the recess 11. Rainwater is prevented from entering the insulating tube in this way.
