PURPOSE:To produce heat resistant high tensile Al alloy powder having high strength by preparing Al alloy powder which contains specific ratios of Cu, Mg, Cr, and Fe and in which an intermetallic compd. of specific grain sizes are dispersed. CONSTITUTION:The molten Al alloy contg., by weight %, 2-7% Cu, 0.5-3% Mg, 0.5-5% Cr, 0.5-5% Fe and the balance Al and inevitable impurities and satisfying the conditions 1<=Cr+Fe<=6 is prepd. This molten Al alloy is cooled at about >=10<3> deg.C/sec cooling rate and is the intermetallic compd. of an Al-Cr, Al-Fe or Al-Cu-(Cr, Fe) system having <=3mu grain size is dispersed therein. The heat resistant high tensile Al alloy powder applicable widely to engine parts, etc., is thereby obtd.
