PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head with excellent mass-productivity and excellent wear-resistance by packing directly crystal glass to a track width regulating slot provided to both side faces of a track in a direction in crossing with the operating gap. CONSTITUTION:The track width regulating slot 4 is provided to both side faces of a track to regulate the track width to a prescribed width in a direction of the core blocks crossing the operating gap in the core block formed by bonding a couple of core block halves 1a, 1b at least one of which is provided with a winding window slot 3. The crystal glass 6 is packed directly to the track width regulating slot 4 and since the crystal glass 6 is chemically stable and its hardness is high, the wear-resistance of the magnetic head is improved. The crystal glass 6 is a crystal ceramic crystallizing the amorphous glass by heat treatment after the amorphous glass is packed into the track width regulating slot 4 at a prescribed operating temperature.
