PURPOSE:To use a hard disk similarly as a nondefective hard disk without causing deterioration in the performance by using a disk control software of a track alternating system so as to able to handle both the hard disk formatted by the sector alternating system and the had disk formatted by the track alternating system. CONSTITUTION:A disk control software 1 of track alternating system can handle both the hard disk 2 formatted by the sector alternating system and the hard disk 3 formatted by the track alternating system. Thus, both the hard disk device is handled by using the track alternating means used in common in the succeeding alternating track definition processing even to the hard disk having a medium format of the track alternating system and the hard disk having a medium format of the sector alternating system. Thus, high speed processing is attained.
