PURPOSE:To attempt fine chamfering by providing a pipe end position detector, a means computing the difference between the pipe end position detected and a pipe end reference position determined in advance, a means which computes an indicated manipulated variable by correcting the reference manipulated variable based on said difference and the like. CONSTITUTION:A pipe end position detector consists of a light source 13, a light receiving sensor 14 and of a control section 15. The light source 13 out of them is provided near the end of a tubing 7 held by chucks 6a and 6b, and the light receiving sensor 14 is provided on the opposite side of the light sensor 13. And the control section 15 processes signals from the light receiving sensor 14 so as to convert them into digital signals for obtaining the position of an end surface 7c as the digital signal. In this constitution, the position of the end surface 7c is measured so as to obtain the amount of dislocation of the end surface before cutting is processed by a cutter head 1 with the tubing set. Then, the manipulated variable corrected by the amount of dislocation is established by means of a controller Pc, thereby enabling the end section of the tubing 7 to be finely cut and chamfered.
