PURPOSE:To set the content of a reply message and to set/release the automatic answering function automatically by collating a present date and time with the date and time of automatic answering setting and starting a switching means only when the present date/time is within the time zone set by the automatic answering function. CONSTITUTION:A control means 10 collates the present date/time read from a counting means 12 at the incoming time with an automatic answering set date/time read from an automatic answering set date/time storage means 11 and only when the present date/time is within the time zone set by the automatic answering function, an on-hook and off-hook switching means 9 is started and selected to the position of off-hook. Simultaneously, a voice message is read from a voice message storage means 13 at the same time, sent to the line and after the voice message is sent, the on-hook/off-hook switching means 9 is started again and switched to the position of on-hook. Thus, the setting/ release of the automatic answering function is applied automatically according to the automatic answering set date/time by having only to set the automatic answering date/time at once.
