PURPOSE:To prevent destruction of storage by bringing a word line potential when a power supply potential is dropped suddenly to be decreased quickly toward the power supply potential after the drop. CONSTITUTION:When the potential of a word line W(l) reaches a power supply potential Vcc or over, electric charges are drawn from the word line W(l) by an electric charge drawing circuit 4. When the output of the word line drive circuit 1 is activated to a high (H) level, even if the power potential Vcc is dropped suddenly, the electric charge charged in load capacitors Cs, Cs,... of the word line W(l) are extracted quickly by the circuit 4. Thus, the potential of the word line W(l) is decreased quickly toward the potential Vcc after the drop and the destruction of storage caused by the relative increase of the poten tial of the word line W(l) is prevented.
