PURPOSE:To reduce the height dimension and weight of a permanent magnet holder by disposing one of a flat plate-like rotary magnet and a fixed magnet on the outer peripheral side and the other on the inner peripheral side in a plane and disposing a yoke in one direction of thickness of both magnets and a pair of magnetic poles in the other direction. CONSTITUTION:When a rotary magnet 4 is rotated relative to a fixed magnet 6, the same magnetic poles or different magnetic poles of both magnets 4, 6 occupy positions opposed to each other. And when the same magnetic poles are opposed to each other, magnetic fluxes produced by the respective magnets 4, 6 are given to a workpiece from a pair of magnetic poles 2 to adsorb the workpiece. On the other hand, when the different magnetic poles are opposed to each other, the magnetic fluxes produced by the respective magnets 4, 6 pass through a closed magnetic path due to the magnets 4, 6 and the respective magnetic poles 2 not to adsorb the workpiece. The rotary and fixed magnets 4, 6 of a device having such a mechanism are both flat plate-shaped and constituted to dispose a yoke 1 and a pair of the magnetic poles 2 on each side of the direction of thickness, so that the height dimension can be reduced. Also, since the magnets are disposed not only on the rotational side but also on the fixed side, so that said device can be constituted from compact magnets and small weight. |
