PURPOSE:To enable complete shutting-off of ions even if a control voltage were low by giving a specific form to an air and ion stream control head. CONSTITUTION:When a predetermined voltage is applied to discharging wire 10 of an ion stream control head from a power supply 17, positive ions 26 generate, starting flowing toward a shield. In the meantime, since an air flow generates in arrow directions 21, 22, some of the positive ions 26 are guided between an electrode array 15 and the shield 11 to proceed to a recording medium direction 23. The form of the ion stream control head is set in such a manner that a control electrode V shows a value as shown by a formula I when the air flow velocity is designated as u, the ion mobility as mu, the slit width of a control electrode part as W and the length of the control electrode as L. Then it is possible to shut off the ions completely even at low control voltage, therefore, reduce power consumption and manufacture a driver for driving a recording head at low cost. |
