PURPOSE:To properly carry out a polishing operation without being affected by the surface condition of the supporting body of a polished object even with a very thin polished object by using a specific polyester resin as the component of the binder of a polishing layer and giving a buffering property to the polishing layer. CONSTITUTION:A polishing layer is formed on at least one side of a film formed polishing-tape base material (e.g., an approx. 12-150mum thick film made of polyethylene terephthalate, etc.). In this case, a polyester resin which gives a buffering property to the polishing layer is used as the component of the binder of the polishing layer. The transition temperature of this polyester resin to glass is defined as 30 deg.C or below to reduce friction heat generated at the time of a polishing operation process. By using such a polyester resin as a binder component, an extremely thin polished object (e.g., a floppy disk) can be favorably polished irrespective of the surface condition of a supporting body.
