METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING VISCOUS HYDROCARBONS UTILIZING A HOT STIMULATING MEDIUM (D#77,400-002-1-f) Well completion and method for producing viscous hydrocarbons from a formation comprised at least in part of unconsolidated sand particles. The formation is thermally treated to put the viscous hydrocarbons in a condition which will enhance their flowability. The resulting hydrocarbon mixture or emulsion which is formed, together with sand particles, is passed through a filtering step during which sand and other solid particles are retained in a removable filter section. The latter can be periodically removed from the well and rejuvenated, or cleaned of solid matter.
